1. a room, part of a church, or building attached to a church, where vestments, and often the sacred vessels, altar equipment, and parish records are kept; sacristy.
2. a similar place used for Sunday school and prayer meetings; chapel.
3. (in the Church of England and the Protestant Episcopal Church of America) an elected committee of church members that helps the church-wardens to manage church business.
4. (in parishes of the Church of England) a meeting of the parishioners on church business.
